#17 – Halsey: Hopeless Fountain Kingdom (Release Date: June 2nd, 2017)
Halsey is onto epic things in 2017, gearing up to release her sophomore album “Hopeless Fountain Kingdom” – which has so far spawned the track “Now Or Never”. After a super successful 2016 including her debut album “Badlands” going platinum, her collaboration with The Chainsmokers “Closer” went #1 for weeks on the Hot 100, and a successful tour including a sold out stop at Madison Square Garden she is ready to release her next project. The album is expected to be filled with magical pop tracks. We all have to love how her music, visuals, and image channels magic and fantasy. “Hopeless Fountain Kingdom” will drop on June 2nd and is available everywhere for pre-order now.
#16. Harry Styles: Harry Styles (Release Date: May 12th, 2017)
The former One Direction member is releasing his highly anticipated self titled debut album on May 12th, 2017. The anticipation is at an all time high after releasing his first solo single, “Sign of the Times” which has received large amounts of success on the charts worldwide after just a week of release. He performed for the first time ever on Saturday Night Live this past week which has received great feedback from fans and industry critics. Anxiously we await for the full project’s release!
#15. Lana Del Rey: Lust for Life (Release Date: TBA)
It seems like just yesterday Lana Del Rey released her incredible debut album, “Born To Die”. The years have gone by after several successful releases and tours, Lana will now release her fifth album “Lust for Life”. Lana stated recently, “I made my first four albums for me, but this one is for my fans”. Her incredibly dedicated fanbase went into a frenzy of anticipation for the project. After releasing the albums first single, “Love” in February she went onto reveal the albums cover plus it’s accompanying trailer. Let’s see if the album lives up to the hype!
#14. Jay-Z: TBA (Release Date: TBA)
While details are extremely minimal and almost completely unknown, fans are expecting rap royalty Jay-Z to release his thirteenth studio album this year. With two babies on the way how will Jay make time to release is the question? Often artists are inspired by their personal lives and release music to accompany it. With no release set the possibilities are endless for the album, but Hip-Hop fans are anticipating the release and potentially Jay’s first time publicly responding to Bey’s “Lemonade”. With such limited details you may wonder why he made TheConcertGator’s list? With Jay-Z’s stature, legacy, and incredible discography of music a set release date doesn’t have to be on the horizon for the anticipation to grow.
#13. 2 Chainz: Pretty Girls Like Trap Music (Release Date: 2017)
2 Chainz will release his third solo album in 2017, titled “Pretty Girls Like Trap Music”. The highly anticipated album will be his first solo since 2013 and the follow up to his collaborative album “ColleGrove” with Lil’ Wayne. Already releasing several singles from the project the buzz is at an all time high. The trap king is also expected to release tracks on the album that feature Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber. 2 Chainz never disappoints – time to get excited for the release!
#12. TLC: TBA (Release Date: June 30th, 2017)
TLC will release their final studio album on June 30th, 2017. The album comes 15 years after their last release. The legacy of the extremely talented trio has continued for decades with timeless hit tracks. After the unfortunate passing of Left Eye, the groups remaining members T-Boz and Chilli began a Kickstarter campaign in 2015 to raise the funds for their final album. The campaign went viral with support from fellow celebrities and worldwide fans becoming the “fastest most funded pop project in Kickstarter history”. After years of anticipation they announced the untitled album’s release date and released it’s first single, “Way Back” featuring Snoop Dogg. The track has taken a liking to both critics and fans with its infectious 90 vibes. They will headline the nation wide “I Love The 90s Tour” this Summer supporting the highly anticipated album. After hearing “Way Back”, we can only expect that the album will live up to the hype, wait, and anticipation, besides it’s TLC!
#11. Fergie: Double Dutchess (Release Date: TBA)
It’s been 11 years since she released her debut solo album, “The Dutchess”. Will 2017 finally be the release of it’s follow up, “Double Dutchess”? After years of endless success with The Black Eyed Peas and a run of solo success, Fergie is gearing up to release the new project in the first quarter of 2017 according to a Facebook Live Q&A. After the release of the viral “M.I.L.F.$” music video and new single “Life Goes On” fans are anxious for the rest of the album. Including the epic buzz track “Hungry” and a collaboration with Nicki Minaj fans patiently await the 2017 release which will also feature a world tour. The highly anticipated album has been long awaited and one can only hope that it lives up to both the wait and hype.
#10. Justine Skye: TBA (Release Date: TBA)
The purple unicorn has released several musical projects including her latest EP, “8 Ounces” and will go on it’s accompanying tour this Spring. Justine has hyped up fans via social media via photo captions and Instagram stories of her in the studio recording music for her highly anticipated debut album. If her previous projects are anything to go by, the debut album will be R&B magic. The songstress is expected to release the project sometime in 2017 and we will anxiously await it’s release.
#9. Trina: TBA (Release Date: TBA)
The Queen of the South will release her first album in seven years in 2017. One of Hip-Hop’s greatest will continue her legacy with new music. Just in case that wasn’t enough, she’ll be releasing yet another album in 2017, a collaborative album with longtime friend Trick Daddy. The highly anticipated album will feature her latest single, “Damn” featuring Tory Lanes and much more is to come. Her epic discography will continue with the release of the sixth album. Being a long time Trina fan, one can only hope we get a nationwide tour this year as well to accompany the project.
#8. Miley Cyrus: TBA (Release Date: TBA)
It’s been nearly four years since the release of the epic “Bangerz”. The infectious urban-pop album was both extremely successful and highly controversial. It’s songs became fan favorites as staples in Miley’s career. She followed it’s release in 2015 with a free album titled, “Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz”. The psychedelic, experimental album received mixed feedback from both fans and critics. One can only pat Miley on the back for experimenting, creating the music she wanted to, and releasing it for free. This all leads us to wonder what the 2017 release will be like. The majority of the anticipation for the project comes from curious fans wondering how exactly it will sound. The rising hip-hop star has released three excellent mixtapes in the past two years and fans of the Roc Nation, XO signed rapper are anxiously awaiting the release of his full length sophomore album. Many are unaware that Belly released his debut album in 2007, but he’s starting fresh with a glorious start to 2017. He will tour the Spring alongside The Weeknd, Rae Sremmurd, and 6LACK where is he expected to debut new material. Through a combination of his flow, impressive rhymes, and top notch beats the highly anticipated album will soon fill our car stereos, streaming app playlist, and hip-hop stations nation wide. #6. Sevyn Streeter: Girl Disrupted (Release Date: TBA)
The R&B singer-songwriter has been working on her debut album “Girl Disrupted” for a few years now and after dropping a series of singles, accompanying visuals, and going on a buzz tour to promote the project the album will drop sometime in 2017. The highly anticipated album will mark as her first ever. Sevyn showcases her raw and pure talent through her music. This is an R&B release that nobody will want to miss.
#5. Katy Perry: TBA (Release Date: TBA)
Katy Perry has been using her incredibly large platform to speak out about political issues the past few years. Fans have anxiously awaited new music since 2013. She dropped non-album single “Rise” in 2016 and campaigned along social issues. At the start of 2017, Katy dropped her fourth album’s first single “Chained To The Rhythm”. The song has received worldwide chart success with performances on The Grammy Awards, iHeartRadio Awards, and The Brits. Katy has teased snippets of many new tracks on social media including the fan favorite “Witness”. Rumors have also circulated of a track with Ariana Grande. No matter when it comes, pop music fans have every right to be excited for the project. It’s been nearly five years since pop goddess and powerhouse vocalist Christina Aguilera has dropped her last album. While her latest projects “Bionic” and “Locus” under-performed on the charts, the albums have turned into fan favorites. Many say “Bionic” was ahead of its time. Early reports of her eighth studio album claim its sound to be “caviar ratchet”. According to sources the album is done and it’s awaiting Christina’s call for release. #3. Justin Timberlake
The legendary Justin Timberlake is expected to make his royal return to music in 2017. In 2017, there’s two important things we need to remember: 1. World peace. 2. Stop sleeping on Tinashe. The singer-songwriter, producer, and dancer to name a few of her many talents is easily one of the industry’s most underrated artists. Tinashe already has a very impressive discography including “Nightride”, her latest next level mixtape which was released at the end of 2016. Originally slated for a Fall 2015 release, Tinashe’s sophomore album “Joyride”, has experienced many label push backs. After going on tour for the project and releasing several singles through 2016, Tinashe is finally expected to release the highly anticipated album in 2017. She recently dropped the catchy tune “Flame” and has been working with a roster of A-list producers to complete the album. Fans are patiently awaiting its release and will continue awaiting the release. 2017 is the year Tinashe can’t be ignored.
#1. Nicki Minaj: TBA (Release Date: TBA)
The Queen of Rap has earned her title over the years through her iconic music, image, personality, visuals, accolades, achievements, lyricism, and more. Nicki Minaj has done the unthinkable for female rappers and has achieved what many thought was impossible. Her fourth album is expected to reflect her personal life and much more. The highly anticipated album has already spawned three singles including the empowering anthem, “No Frauds” and the heart felt “Regret In Your Tears”. With many epic guest appearances and accompanying music videos on deck, Nicki has already taken over 2017 and she’s just getting started. Hip-Hop royalty will release her new album and tour worldwide very soon. Both her extremely dedicated fanbase and the public are perched worldwide waiting its release. We know that Nicki will bring it full force as always and that’s exactly why she earned the #1 spot on TheConcertGator’s “17 Most Anticipated Albums Of 2017” List.
Additional top contenders for most anticipated albums of 2017 could include
Kanye West who is expected to release the follow up to “The Life of Pablo” which recently became the first ever album to go platinum off of streams. After personal issues causing him to cancel the second leg of his 2016 tour, it was reported that West was back in the studio working on yet another album. One can only be anxious to know what’s next from the creative genius. Mariah Carey renewed her Epic Records contract and is set to release a new album this year. After her New Years Eve fiasco, reality TV show, and a postponed tour we can all only wonder what Carey’s next move is musically. If “I Don’t” is anything to go by, R&B lovers should be very excited. Gucci Mane will release his fourth album within a year “Droptopwop”. Pop’s favorite newcomers Niykee Heaton and Camilla Cabello are expected to release their highly anticipated debut albums. Rumors of Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, P!nk, Rae Sremmurd, Fifth Harmony, Chris Brown, and Eminem releases are all not out of the question either. Now if we really want to speculate we can all take a moment to pray that Rihanna will release in 2017. While many of these releases aren’t confirmed, speculation is always fun.
